My son isn't a big fan of carrots, but he LOVES these. I use the sauce on other veggies too and it is something that gives just plain veggies a bit of punch to them.
- 1 lb. carrots or green beans
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt (or powder if you want to reduce sodium intake)
- 1/2 tsp. dried basil
- freshly cracked pepper to taste
- Steam carrots or green beans until tender crisp.
- Strain.
- Melt butter, stir in other ingredients and toss with the carrots.
These carrots sound delicious ;-)
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the teen-age boys. Mine is away at college now (18), but he likes his portions.
Sounds good! We just had some carrot, ginger soup that was delicious! I love carrots!
ReplyDeleteI love carrots. I will try this recipe. Kathy
ReplyDeleteGrin...yes. Butter is better and that does sound like an advert line! HA! But super idea!
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous. I always just do carrot coins. With two toddlers, I have to cook them Very Well. I think I'll try it this way.
ReplyDeleteI never never serve cooked vegetables without butter. What would be the point? :)
Just found your blog, and it's great!
I love the idea of lemon and garlic added to these. I often make carrots with just butter, basil and a tbsp. of honey but it will be fun to try your version. Thanks Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteso yummy. . .thank you Charlotte. a perfect little side dish.
ReplyDeleteWe're not big fans of carrots in these parts either, but I have a big bag to use up and this sounds really yummy! Thanks for the great ideas--this is my go-to website when I need some inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteTry dried sweet basil instead of regular basil. My family loves carrots this way. I'm going to add the garlic salt and fresh cracked black pepper next time I make them. I love your blog and check to see what is new every morning. Thank you so much for all your work posting these wonderful recipes.
